Will Cross
Will is an extreme adventurer who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age nine.
For the past two years, Will has been participating in the NovoLog® Peaks and Poles Challenge, a quest to climb the highest mountain on each of the seven continents and walk to the North and South Poles. To date, Will has successfully reached both Poles and climbed Mt. Vinson, Mt. Aconcagua, Mt. Kilimanjaro, and Mt. Denali. Last May, Will attempted to climb Mt. Everest, the highest mountain in the world. This year, he will attempt Russia's Mt. Elbrus and Australia's Carstensz Pyramid.
And if that is not enough, he is also a high school teacher, a husband and the father of five!
Will's talk will be about his adventures and promises to prove to every man, woman and child with diabetes that if you control your disease, you can live a full and rewarding life and set out to accomplish any goal.

Lorena Drago is a registered dietitian, certified diabetes educator and Hispanic Educator Specialist. She is also the Director of the Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Nutrition Program at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx. A highly regarded motivational speaker, Lorena conducts lectures, self-management workshops and diabetes patient education for managed care organizations, businesses and individuals.

Douglas Cairns was a jet pilot and flight instructor in the British Royal Air Force (RAF) when, in 1989, he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. With his pilot's license revoked because of his diabetes, Douglas left the RAF and changed careers.
In 1999, Douglas discovered that it was possible to obtain a United States medical license to fly solo privately by meeting certain medical requirements. He obtained that license. 'Diabetes World Flight' was born to show that it is possible for such pilots to fly safely according to US FAA regulations. Douglas Cairns flew around the world in 159 days, flying over 26,300 nautical miles and visiting 22 countries. He is a living example that diabetes does not have to limit the scope of our dreams.
