Special Guest

Aida Turturro
Aida Turturro, Actress, The Sopranos
Aida Turturro has appeared on stage and screen as many different characters, but no doubt her most famous role to date is that of Tony Soprano's sister, Janice, on the award winning and critically acclaimed HBO series, The Sopranos, for six seasons. An Emmy nomination in 2000 for her role as Janice proved to audiences everywhere that Aida had staying power. No more than a year later however, Aida was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Told by her doctor that she needed to watch her diet and take oral medication, Aida did not treat her condition seriously until her diabetes worsened significantly in 2003. Since then, she has learned to control her health and now works closely with her endocrinologist to properly manage her diabetes. For Aida, this means adjusting her lifestyle and using insulin on a daily basis to keep her blood glucose levels in check. The fact that she's been working continuously ever since her diagnosis is proof that Aida has prevented diabetes from controlling her life. When The Sopranos is not in production, she continues to hone her craft by appearing on stage and in independent films.
