area and then sign-in at the CE table.

Craig A. Wargon, DPM
Dr. Craig Wargon is a practicing physician in Podiatric Surgery in the Department
of Orthopedics at the Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center. He is also the lead
physician for several clinical software applications for the Technology Group, a regional
division of The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG).
Dr. Wargon lectures on the subjects of foot diseases and sports related foot and ankle
injuries. He has authored scientific articles published in medical journals and numerous
chapters for medical textbooks.

Patrick J. Kearns, MD
Dr. Pat Kearns is a physician specializing in Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine and
Nutrition at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. He serves as the
Director of Chronic Care Management and the Acting Director of the Diabetes
Metabolism Clinic.

J. Phyllis Preciado, MD
Phyllis Preciado was raised in East San Jose as the eldest daughter of a large Mexican-American family, and dreamed of becoming a medical doctor. Her parents had not graduated from high school and did not have the financial or academic background to support her career development in medicine. She was, however, able to attend a nursing program at a local community college and become a Registered Nurse. Her dream of becoming a doctor did not die, and after many years and overcoming numerous obstacles, Phyllis Preciado is now Doctor Preciado. She is a Family Practice physician at Castle Family Health Center in Atwater and she serves as a mentor and a voice for the Central Valley Latino community.
Joseph B. Nelson, MA, LP
Joe Nelson is a licensed psychologist with a masters degree in counseling psychology from St. Mary's College. He has authored a number of articles and chapters and is a frequent lecturer around the country on the psychosocial aspects of diabetes and co-empowerment. Joe has an active practice at Golden Valley Psychotherapy Associates and he has 23 years experience treating individuals, couples, and families with diabetes, sexual dysfunctions, and other chronic conditions.
