Conference Speaker

Bo Irvine
As a National Headlining Comedian, Bo has been performing for mainland and local audiences for over 15 years. Born and raised in Hawaii where diabetes affects a vast majority of the local Pacific Islander population, Bo has a personal interest in the fight against diabetes.

After being diagnosed with Type 2 in 1997, Bo slipped into a serious depression and denial of his disease. After visiting a dialysis unit with a friend whose kidneys had failed, Bo realized that most of the people on dialysis had diabetes. It was his growing fear of serious complications that caused Bo to stand up and take control of his diabetes. He knows the struggles that people with diabetes face and he has turned his comedy and energies into motivating individuals to work at reaching their goals for managing their diabetes.
