This year, Taking Control of Your Diabetes, 501(c)3, is an official charity of the America's Finest City Half Marathon and 5K in San Diego on August 20th. Your commitment to participating in the race and raising money for the not-for-profit TCOYD supports the organization's mission to inform, motivate and empower people to take control of their diabetes.
Since our first event in San Diego in 1995, TCOYD has reached over 100,000 people with diabetes and their loved ones through our patient conferences across the country. It has always been our strong conviction that the key to improve diabetes care is to empower the people living with diabetes to take a more active role in their condition. What better way to reinforce the message than to encourage people to get fit, cover the distance, improve their health, and help others in the process by supporting the organization.
The funds raised through the road race will go to putting on patient conferences in the United States, including the San Diego conference on November 18th, as well as the San Diego miniseries lectures every other month. Make a goal. Mark August 20th on your calendar and join the TCOYD team. Encourage your friends and coworkers to run, walk or donate to the cause.
