Del Mar, CA - August 27, 2007 - Taking Control of Your Diabetes, 501c3, (TCOYD), announced today that 12 new episodes of the Taking Control of Your Diabetes television series are in production for broadcast on educational access cable channels through the University of California, and DISH in most areas.   Each of the 30 minute, commercial free programs features dynamic and renowned diabetes specialist Steven V. Edelman, MD, as host.

Building on the highly succesful first season, Executive Producer Heidi Rataj said, "We are offering something that other educational health programming does not.   Taking Control of Your Diabetes television evokes action - for those with and without diabetes."

Season two programs include hypoglycemia, sleep apnea, gastrointestinal and cardiac issues.   "The treatment of every topic we choose to cover in TCOYD TV recognizes the intricate interplay between diabetes and other diseases and complications," said Edelman. "The fact is, people with diabetes frequently face other serious conditions that also affect millions of Americans without diabetes. Our goal is to provide unbiased, relevant and current information from top notch specialists on topics related to living with diabetes so that viewers can make choices today that positively impact their health."

Season two boasts a fresh format, set and design from Director/Editor Tami Magaro of Medisode Media, Inc.   The premiere episode to broadcast September 20, 2007 is titled Hypoglycemia, the risks and realities of low blood sugar .   As a physician living with type 1 diabetes for 37 years, Dr. Edelman will share professional and personal insight on treating and avoiding low blood glucose levels.

TCOYD Television's audience is a knowledgeable base of health conscious viewers, some of whom are already highly involved in the nonprofit TCOYD, and the live events put on by Dr. Edelman and his team for those with diabetes, those at risk, and their families.   The broadcast reach of UCTV and TCOYD Television is 11.5 million viewers, with streaming internet and DVD copies also available.
